Mid Continent Controls attended and exhibited at the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) 51st Annual International Convention and Trade Show, April 23-26, 2008. With '08 being an election year for the United States, Washington DC provided the perfect backdrop for the event. Steeped in the splendor of this nation's history, we're reminded of the personalities which bookmark America's tale of self-governance along with the tremendous price that was paid so the citizens of this great nation could enjoy the freedoms "endowed by their creator".
Held at the scenic Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington DC, attendees enjoyed numerous workshops, Fast Track Sessions and Silent Auction to benefit the AEA scholarship fund, along with several other business/networking functions which were also offered. The Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) represents more than 1300 aviation businesses, including repair stations that specialize in maintenance, repair and installation of avionics and electronic systems in general aviation aircraft. AEA membership also includes instruments facilities, manufacturers of avionics equipment, instrument manufacturers, airframe manufacturers, test equipment manufacturers, major distributors, and educational institutions.
Ribbon cutting ceremonies for the opening of the exhibition hall floor were held Thursday, April 23 and the hall rapidly filled with attendees - all interested and excited to see the latest innovations in aircraft electronics. MC2 offered many mainstay innovations to the aircraft electronics community, including our single and dual Media Disc Players. Able to play DVDs from all regions worldwide, our new media disc players also read CD, MP3 and VCD discs, along with DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs. Also on display was our Auto-Config System and accompanying prototype touch-screen switch panel. Our visitors were very impressed with our newest switch panel and the versatility it offers to passengers.
A great deal of interest was also shown in our Flight Information Display, which offers a very cost effective means of providing flight data to passengers. Operating off of the aircraft’s ARINC 429 Flight Data Computers, the system is capable of displaying a host of flight parameters to the passengers seated in the cabin – from airspeed and altitude to distance and time to destination, all selectable with an easy to use installation application running from an installation tech's laptop.
Also on display was an offering of MC2 switch panels for cabin control in a variety of configurations and options. Easy to use and intuitive in nature, our switch panels have become well known for their versatility, beauty, and rugged design. The compact design of our new Media Disc Players was appreciated by all MC2 visitors who constantly struggle with weight and space saving issues within aircraft cabins. The small size of our players may even allow for an IFE option where one was unavailable previously due to size constraints and weight limitations.
Much interest was also shown in our Cabin AC Power System, providing convenient use of PEDs (portable electronic devices – laptops, etc.) within the aircraft cabin while supplying multiple layers of safety which are built into the system. As always, MC2 Stereo Amplifiers, Video Distribution Amplifiers and Audio Distribution Amplifiers were on display and appreciated by many.
Also on exhibit was MC2's prototype Media Server, providing entertainment options to passengers in an easy-to-use, rapidly accessible, digital format for increased versatility and enhanced IFE selections for the passenger.

Again, we would like to thank everyone who took the time to visit our exhibit. It was a pleasure to speak with our previous business clients along with meeting many new friends - we're looking forward to the many new challenges and business endeavors which await us in the future.
