Qualifications

Experience: 

At least 8 years supervisory experience in an engineering environment, preferably in aircraft cabin interior systems.  Employee is expected to acquire the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well within 90 days in the position.

Education:  

Bachelor of Science in Electronics/Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.

Skills: 

Skills expected include demonstrated engineering skills; strong verbal, written, people and supervisory skills; knowledge of electrical engineering, and the ability to read schematics and manufacturing documentation.  Good computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel, and Autocad is required.

Certificates and Licenses: 

None required.

Problem Solving: 

Continual problem solving is required in this position.  Problems include the daily management of personnel, keeping with schedule requirements, troubleshooting problems, and dealing with engineering issues.

Decision Making: 

Continual decision making is required in this position.  Decisions include assigning and overseeing design projects and determining the proper course of action for engineering issues.

Financial Accountability: 

Employee is responsible for overseeing departmental expenditures.  Employee is responsible for the safe use of departmental equipment.

Personal Relations: 

Employee has continual contact with other employees, departments, customers and vendors.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This position is responsible for supervising all the employees of the engineering department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities within company policies and applicable laws.

Work Environment: 

No adverse working conditions exist.  Frequent computer use is required for this position.  This position performs work in a normal office environment, which are normally quiet conditions.  While performing the duties of this position, the employee has very limited exposure to the risk of electrical shock when testing designs.  No other adverse working conditions exist.

Physical Requirements: 

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to perform office and computer work.  The employee can be required to occasionally lift items up to 10 pounds approximately 10% of the time.  Employee must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures; ability to write reports and other correspondence; ability to manage and supervise subordinate employees; and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees and customers.

Under the general supervision of the company Engineering Director, the Engineering Manager performs responsible duties pertaining to the administration and coordination of the Engineering Department.  This employee is responsible for the coordination of engineering projects in conjunction with the marketing and manufacturing departments, and supervising the engineering department staff.
